The Barwon Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a new $500+ million facility that will significantly expand maternity and paediatric care for Geelong and the wider Barwon South West region. Located adjacent to University Hospital Geelong, it will consolidate and enhance services in a purpose-built, contemporary environment.

Humanics Collective is working alongside Lyons to deliver the wayfinding strategy and environmental graphics for this landmark project. Our aim is to make the hospital feel calm, navigable, and welcoming for patients, families, and staff—particularly for women and children who may be arriving under stress or uncertainty.

The building’s design includes a new multi-storey structure that connects into existing facilities, requiring a considered approach to orientation, naming, and user journeys. Our wayfinding framework ensures seamless transitions between departments and buildings, while also supporting clinical operations and emergency access.

This project builds on our broader experience in women’s and children’s healthcare environments, where clarity, warmth, and inclusivity are essential to supporting patient wellbeing and family-centred care.
