James Mant

I’m an urban planner and placemaker with more than 20 years’ experience shaping people-centred strategies for cities and neighbourhoods. My work spans Australia, the UK and Ireland, and I’ve led some of Victoria’s most significant urban planning and placemaking initiatives, from Plan Melbourne to the 20-Minute Neighbourhoods program. I enjoy working where planning, politics and design intersect, and I bring a deep understanding of government, policy and city systems. I’m also a writer, editor, speaker and podcaster, focused on making complex planning issues accessible and engaging.

I host a podcast called City People, where I interview planners, designers and built environment leaders about how cities get made.
